International Women's Day
On March 8th we celebrate International Women's Day, an event that has been recognized for over a century! This day allows us to celebrate the economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Collectively we can create a world where gender equality is normal.
The UN Women announced the International Women's Day 2021 theme which is “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”. This celebrates the actions made by women and girls around the world who are creating an equal future and helping others to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing and celebrating the amazing women who have fought for gender equality and women’s rights is important. Their achievements should be acknowledged every day, especially those who have worked tirelessly through the pandemic to create a safe place for women in need. This International Women's Day it is also important to celebrate each woman of every background and to continue to make progress to achieve equality.
Help A Girl Out will be hosting a "Periods Through the Ages" virtual workshop on March 8th at 12 pm EST to commemorate the day! Join us to learn about the history and experiences of women and periods. Everyone is welcome to participate!
We encourage you to spend time this week to acknowledge the women around you and to celebrate those who have fought to give women the opportunities and rights they have today.
